Vedanta Limited informed after the stock market closed on Friday that the company has received a notice from the Odisha State Pollution Control Board demanding environmental compensation of Rs 71.16 crore for violations related to unauthorized disposal of fly ash. The company has said that the notice was issued on April 10, 2025 under the fly ash notification issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

In a regulatory filing to BSE and NSE, Vedanta said that it denies the allegations and intends to pursue appropriate legal remedies. The company claims that this decision has been taken without proper consideration of its compliance record and prior submissions. The company said that it does not think that this order will have any financial impact. Stock performance On Friday, the company's stock closed at Rs 380 with a gain of 2.55 per cent. In the last one year, the company's stock has seen a gain of 1.89 per cent.
