Pooja Mishra, who runs an IT company in Munich, Germany, became a savior for her brother-in-law. When she came to know that her brother-in-law was being tortured in various ways at the Navjeevan Daan drug de-addiction center run in Om Saidham Colony near Bhudbaral in Meerut for the last seven years, she could not bear it and came to Meerut from Germany, thousands of kilometers away.
She freed her brother-in-law from this centre. During this time, she found this centre to be more of a place of inhuman torture than a place for de-addiction. She freed her brother-in-law from the centre and took him to her other residence in Agra. There she wrote a letter to the National Human Rights Commission through e-mail and described the inhumanity of this centre.
The commission issued a notice to the DGP of UP and summoned a report. The DGP ordered the DM and SSP to immediately form a team and take action in this matter. During the action of the police administration, the NRI woman came from Agra to Meerut and freed 23 people from this center.
