US Travel Ban: These 36 countries can be added to Trump's travel ban list, why is entry being banned?

News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump's administration is considering imposing a travel ban on citizens of 36 additional countries entering the US, citing national security threats. Citizens of 12 countries were already banned from entering the US earlier this month.

In a diplomatic cable signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the State Department highlighted concerns about the countries involved and called for corrective action.

There are also questions about the security of passports

The Department has identified 36 countries of concern, whose citizens may be recommended to be barred from entry or repatriated if they do not meet established criteria and requirements within 60 days.

The cable was first reported by The Washington Post. Concerns raised in the cable include the lack of a competent institution in some countries to create reliable identity documents. Questions have also been raised about the security of passports.

Restrictions can be imposed on citizens

If these are not resolved within the next 60 days, citizens of these countries may be banned. These include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Dominica, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

If these are not resolved within the next 60 days, citizens of these countries may be banned.
