One person was reported dead in the accident
A small plane carrying six people crashed about 50 miles (80 km) south of the New York state capital Albany on Saturday afternoon local time, killing one person, the Federal Aviation Administration and police said.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said the Mitsubishi MU-2B plane crashed into a muddy field at 12:15 pm (1615 GMT) in Copake, New York, near the Massachusetts state border, and was headed for Columbia County Airport near Hudson, New York. It was not immediately clear if there were other injuries or fatalities.
Officials will give information about the accident today
Both the FAA and the local sheriff's office said National Transportation Safety Board officials would provide more details on Sunday. It wasn't immediately clear Saturday afternoon what caused the crash.
