News Topical, Digital Desk : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level review meeting on the possibility of waterlogging and floods after heavy rainfall. During this, he took information about the arrangements from the officials and instructed that negligence will not be tolerated in drainage, relief and rescue operations. The CM said that the Water Power Minister and the Principal Secretary should conduct a field inspection in Bundelkhand and other areas with heavy rainfall.

Regarding the problems of farmers, he said that 16 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh will receive less than average rainfall, ensure this. Along with this, he instructed the NDRF and SDRF teams to remain alert in sensitive areas. He took information about the control room and asked them to remain active 24×7.
 CM Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting on Monday on the situation arising due to recent rains in the state, especially waterlogging in urban areas and the rise in the water level of rivers. The Chief Minister directed the officials that it should be the top priority of the government to ensure that the general public does not face any kind of inconvenience.

The Chief Minister said that due to heavy rainfall in many parts of the state, waterlogging, road damage and sharp rise in water level of rivers in some areas have been observed. Continuous monitoring should be done on this. The concerned departments, municipal corporations, development authorities and district administration were instructed to streamline the drainage system with immediate effect. Water should be drained from all waterlogging affected areas as soon as possible, so that citizens can get relief. He said that immediate action should be ensured on any complaint or emergency information.

Instructions given for areas with heavy rainfall
The Chief Minister directed that in those areas of the state including Bundelkhand, where heavy rainfall has occurred, the Jal Shakti Minister and the Principal Secretary of the department should personally conduct on-site inspection and evaluate the waterlogging, flood situation and the condition of water structures and ensure necessary action. Along with this, he made special mention of those 16 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh where till now rainfall has been less than the average. The Chief Minister said that advance arrangements should be made to ensure that farmers in these areas get adequate water for irrigation so that there is no adverse effect on farming.

The Chief Minister directed the municipal bodies to ensure that sewer lines and drainage systems are cleaned regularly. Roads damaged due to waterlogging should be repaired on priority. The Electricity Department was directed to manage power supply in waterlogged areas with utmost care so that no accident occurs.

CM Yogi asked the rescue team to remain alert.
The Chief Minister also directed that adequate arrangements should be made in advance in sensitive areas prone to floods. Relief and rescue teams should be kept alert and all necessary materials like boats, search lights, life saving equipment, medical kits should be ready with full readiness. NDRF and SDRF teams should be kept in active mode in coastal areas.

He clarified that the administration should work with full vigilance and sensitivity so that there is no loss of life or animals under any circumstances. In times of crisis, there should be no negligence in shifting the affected people to safe places and providing them basic facilities like food, drinking water, medical care etc.

All district officials should keep an eye on the situation
The Chief Minister directed all the District Magistrates and Municipal Body Chiefs to physically review the waterlogging and flood situation in their areas and maintain continuous monitoring through 24×7 control rooms. He also said that the general public should be given updated information related to weather, rainfall and water level from time to time.

For this, local media, social media and disaster management apps should be used effectively so that people can be alert and cautious in advance. The Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Revenue departments were also instructed to immediately start the process of relief and compensation distribution by quickly assessing the damage caused to crops, livestock or property due to rain and waterlogging.
