News Topical, Digital Desk : Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again raised the old Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly, saying he is pleased with the ceasefire between the two countries after recent months of conflict.

Erdogan said India and Pakistan need to be together to combat terrorism. He said, “We hope that the Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue, based on the UN resolutions, in the best interests of our brothers and sisters in Kashmir.”

"Peace and stability are most important to us."

In his address to the general debate at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Erdogan said, "We consider peace and stability in South Asia paramount. We are pleased with the ceasefire reached last April after tensions between Pakistan and India escalated into conflict."

In recent years, Erdogan has mentioned the Kashmir issue several times while addressing world leaders at high-level sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistani-controlled areas. The attacks led to four days of fierce clashes, which were later resolved after Pakistan's appeal.
