In fact, US President Donald Trump has been taking credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May. He makes various claims regarding this. Now, he has made a new claim, saying that eight Indian and Pakistani aircraft were shot down. Initially, there were seven, but now there are eight because the aircraft that was shot down has been released. However, he did not specify which country these aircraft belonged to.
The ceasefire took place on May 9.
It is worth noting that 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in May. Following this attack, Indian troops launched Operation Sindoor against terrorist bases in Pakistan, escalating tensions between the two countries. Meanwhile, ceasefire talks were held on May 9th, and a day later, both sides announced a ceasefire. US President Trump has been taking credit for this ceasefire. However, India has consistently denied any third-party interference in this ceasefire.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was achieved through military communication channels established between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both sides.
