
News Topical, Digital Desk : A decision by US President Donald Trump's administration has put the future of thousands of international students studying at Harvard University in jeopardy. The Trump administration has canceled Harvard's Student and Visitor Exchange Program. The Department of Homeland Security has given the university 72 hours to provide the requested information within this time limit. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has called it a warning to all educational institutions in America.
The Trump administration has placed 6 tough conditions before Harvard:
- Providing records of illegal activity committed by a nonimmigrant student on or off university campus
- Provide a record of any dangerous or violent activity committed on or off campus by a nonimmigrant student enrolled at Harvard in the past 5 years
- Provide records of any threats made by the nonimmigrant student to other students or university employees on or off university campus in the past 5 years
- Records of violations of the rights of other students or University employees by a nonimmigrant student on or off University campus during the past 5 years
- Providing all disciplinary records of non-immigrant students enrolled in the university in the last 5 years
- Providing records of any protests involving non-immigrant students on university campuses in the past 5 years

The Trump administration has made it clear that Harvard must make all these records, whether official or unofficial, including electronic records and audio or video footage, available within 72 hours.
Let us tell you that Harvard is a renowned educational institution in the world. Around 10,158 international students study in various schools of Harvard. According to the academic records of 2024-25, around 788 students from India are enrolled in the university.
