News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump had recently announced to impose a 25 percent tariff on India. This announcement is being seen as a move to put pressure on India for a trade deal. Now a Canadian business tycoon has warned Trump for this move and called imposing tariffs on India a big mistake.
Veteran Canadian businessman and chairman of Testbed Kirk Lubimov has posted a long post on the social media site X. In this, he has criticized Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25 percent tariff on India and has described PM Modi as a very popular leader in the world.
'India is the fastest growing economy in the world'
Kirk Lubimov wrote, 'I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The biggest problem with Donald Trump's tariff approach is that it takes little account of geopolitical strategy. Trump is now fighting India, one of the world's fastest growing economies.'
He further wrote, 'India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most respected in the world and has influence in many countries. The real motive is to weaken the dominance and growth of China and BRICS. India is a part of it, but it can be a natural country to transfer production from China.'
Kirk Lubimov quipped that America is not going to make toothbrushes for 50 cents. He said that instead of using India's hammer and nail, we should support it economically and also bring Canada along so that we can help in meeting the need of natural resources.
