News Topical, Digital Desk : A tragic road accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday (January 31) in Nagla Chandan, within the Khandauli police station area of Agra. Two auto-rickshaws carrying people returning from Jagannath Puri were struck by a closed-body container coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that both auto-rickshaws were severely damaged, causing chaos at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the enclosed container, carrying goods towards Kolkata, suddenly went out of control and slammed into two oncoming auto-rickshaws. The collision caused the auto-rickshaws to overturn on the road. The damage was extensive due to the container's speed and weight.
5 people died on the spot
Five people travelling in the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, while four others were seriously injured. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Doctors say the condition of some of the injured remains critical and they are being kept under observation.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Khandauli police arrived at the scene and began rescue and relief operations. The bodies were taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. The accident also disrupted road traffic for some time, but the police later restored it.
Additional CP confirmed the accident
Additional Commissioner of Police Rambadan Singh also arrived at the scene. He confirmed the death of five people in the accident and stated that an investigation is underway. He also directed that the injured be provided with the best possible treatment.
Upon receiving news of the accident, the families of the deceased were devastated. Police are questioning the container driver and investigating whether the accident was caused by speeding, negligence, or a technical fault.
