News Topical, Digital Desk : Big news is coming from Andhra Pradesh right now. A massive explosion has occurred at a firecracker factory in Kakinada district. Twenty-one people have died in the explosion, while eight others are reported injured. Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anita has given information about this incident. She has also expressed the fear that the number of casualties in this blast may increase further. According to Collector and District Magistrate Sagili Shan Mohan, the condition of many of the injured is said to be critical.
21 people died in the blast
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said at least 21 people were killed and eight others seriously injured in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Kakinada district on Saturday. The Home Minister feared the death toll could rise. She said several people were admitted to hospitals in critical condition. Andhra Pradesh Minister Kandula Durgesh said, "As far as I know, 21 bodies have been seen here (at the site). Eight others are undergoing treatment in hospitals. There were around 30 people at the manufacturing unit." He added, "This is the biggest explosion in the state. Full details are yet to be received. There is no chance of anyone surviving. Some people are undergoing treatment."
CM expressed grief over the accident
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incident. "The loss of life in the explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem village in Kakinada district is deeply saddening," Naidu said in a post on the social media platform X. Naidu said he spoke to officials regarding the accident and directed them to provide immediate assistance to the victims. "We are monitoring the rescue efforts and will assist the affected families," he said. CM Naidu announced an ex-gratia of ₹20 lakh for the families of those killed in Kakinada. The Chief Minister assured that the government would bear the medical expenses of the injured. He also ordered the suspension of four senior officials of Kakinada district for negligence in duty. Naidu said the incident would be investigated.
