News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of husband murder has come to light from Karnataka, in which a woman along with her lover killed her husband. Not only this, to suppress the case, they threw his body 30 km away.

The incident took place on June 24, 2025, in Kadashettihalli village in Tiptur taluk of Tumkur district. It was reported that the woman's husband Shankaramurthy was 50 years old and lived alone in a farmhouse away from his home. His wife Sumangala worked as a cook in a girls' hostel in Tiptur and was allegedly having an affair with Nagaraju, a resident of Kardalusante village.

Husband was coming in between her illicit relationship, so she was murdered

Sumangala and her lover Nagaraju allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Shankaramurthy because they felt he was coming in between their relationship. Police said that on the day of the incident, Sumangala first put chilli powder in her husband Shankaramurthy's eyes, beat him with sticks and then brutally killed him by placing her foot on his neck.

The body was thrown into a well 30 km away

Police said that after the murder, they stuffed the body in a sack and carried it about 30 km away. They then dumped the body in a well in a field under the jurisdiction of Dandanishvara police station in Turuvekere taluk. The case was initially registered as a missing person at the Nonavinakere police station but during the search operation, police found traces of chilli powder and signs of struggle on the victim's bed, which raised suspicion.

The wife confessed her crime

Based on suspicion, further investigation and questioning of Sumangala as well as analysis of her mobile call detail records led the police to discover the murder plot. She eventually confessed to the crime. A case has been registered at the Nonvinakere police station and further investigation is underway.
