News Topical, Digital Desk : A woman in Britain's electric toothbrush exploded, causing a fire. Charlotte Bowers, a 33-year-old Manchester resident, had purchased the toothbrush eight months earlier, but in February 2026, while she was sleeping, it suddenly exploded and ignited.

The explosion caused the toothbrush to catch fire, but thankfully, the steel frame of the bathroom mirror prevented the flames from spreading far. The woman says she's lucky to be alive.

I will no longer use an electric toothbrush.

The woman says that if it weren't for the mirror, she and her partner could have died. She also said that she will never use an electric toothbrush again. According to the woman, the toothbrush was from Oral B, and when she complained about the incident, the company offered to pay either $46 or a new toothbrush, even though the damage caused by the explosion was $267.

'I couldn't believe it'

Charlotte works for Network Rail. She first told her story to Talk to the Press. She said, "I couldn't believe something like this could happen, I had never heard of it before. I went into the bathroom and found my toothbrush had exploded and caught fire. I'm lucky I survived because the steel frame of the mirror stopped the fire from spreading."

The woman further said, "There was no warning given about this brush. I have been using it for eight months. I always kept it dry and never left it on charging. Now I will never buy anything from Oral B nor will I ever use an electric toothbrush."
