News Topical, Digital Desk : Heart attack is a medical emergency. In this, heart muscles start getting destroyed due to obstruction in blood circulation and if it is not treated in time, it can prove fatal.

This used to happen earlier and is still happening, but there is a difference that the problem of cholesterol was not uncontrolled earlier, but now our bad lifestyle and unbridled eating habits have made it serious. The trend of junk food, comfortable but stressful routine, lack of sleep, smoking are now accumulating cholesterol in the arteries of even children.

 

Recognize your numbers, your heart will stay healthy

Just like you are always curious to know the number of your bank deposits, in the same way it is necessary to know the numbers of your health as well. Like-

  • Also know how many steps you should walk in a day. You should practice walking for 30 minutes every day. Try to walk 10,000 steps every day.
  • You should know your sleeping hours. Try to get 7-8 hours of good sleep every day.
  • What is the size of your waist? Is it increasing? Keep in mind that men should have a waist size of less than 90 cm and women should have a waist size of less than 80 cm.
  • I have never had my blood pressure checked, but I should know if anyone in my family has it or not. Keep your blood pressure between 120-80.
  • You must know the level of bad cholesterol LDL. Also, you must know what is the level of NBAC.

These numbers are important to keep you healthy and alert.

 

Heart problems start from the arteries

When due to increased blood pressure or stress, there is a slight break or cut in the cholesterol deposited in the arteries of the heart, the body feels an injury. Since the arteries are two to three mm thin, in such a situation, blockage or blood clot hinders blood circulation. Just like after a cut on the hand, a scab forms there after some time and the bleeding stops, in the same way, platelets gather inside the heart to stop bleeding and clotting occurs.

 

Due to this, blood is not able to reach the heart muscles. This causes chest pain and later it turns into a heart attack. When there is more than 90 percent blockage, one feels heaviness and pain while sleeping and when the blockage becomes 100 percent, heart attack occurs. Since this problem occurs suddenly, immediate treatment is necessary. 50 percent of people suffering from heart attack die within an hour, they are not able to reach the hospital.

 

Covid and bad lifestyle shared the risk

Apart from bad lifestyle, reasons like drug overdose, hormonal therapy are also responsible for heart disease. Heart attacks are being seen in younger people after Covid infection. However, many researches have not considered the Covid vaccine responsible for this.

Many studies show that most of the deaths during Covid infection were due to blood clots in the lungs and heart. This is the reason why blood thinning medicines were given for two to four weeks after infection. There was improvement after that, but the sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits persisted, which is now taking a toll.

 

Heart attacks have increased in children since last two-three years

The main reason for the increase in heart attacks in the last two-three years is that junk food has become very popular in our country in the last 25-30 years. This problem is being seen in those children who started eating junk food in that period and became physically inactive. It is not that today one eats a burger and gets a heart attack. First it  became the reason for obesity in children  , then diseases surrounded them and then it became the reason for death.

 

Suppose today a 35-40 year old person is eating burger-pizza and a 5-6 year old child is also eating the same, then the digestive system of both is completely different. The digestive system of a child is in the development stage. Suppose the child ate French and the trans fat that went into his body started accumulating in the arteries at an early age. Due to the developed digestive system of a 35 year old person, the damage will be relatively less. There is no doubt that a child who gets into the habit of junk food at the age of 5-6 years will make him sick when he grows up.

 

Children's daily routine changed

Earlier, children used to go to school on foot or by bicycle. There used to be playgrounds for them in schools. But, today we cannot send children to school on foot even if we want to. The provision of playgrounds in schools has vanished. Parents themselves are subject to a busy lifestyle, they cannot take their children out. There are many such reasons which are putting the health of the new generation at risk.

 

Junk food has been a part of our diet for the last 20-25 years. Since it started 25 years ago, heart attacks are being seen in people of 25-30 years of age. If this habit continues, then in the coming time, the problem of heart attack will be seen in children of 10 to 15 years of age.

 

Keep getting your heart checked, the risk will be less

Dr Vivek Kumar (Vice Chairman Cardiac Raj Max Hospital, New Delhi) says that to know the health of the heart, we have to keep two-three things in mind. First, is there any risk factor already? Like has anyone in the family suffered from heart disease?

 

Second, if there is a problem like blood pressure, diabetes, is it under control or not. We have to keep in mind that those whose daily routine is at high risk have a high risk of getting heart disease. Generally, men above 40 years of age and women after the age of 50 are at risk of having heart problems.
