News Topical, Digital Desk : A horrific road accident in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday night shattered the joys of three families. Five women returning home from a wedding after cooking were brutally crushed by a speeding pickup truck. Three women died in the tragic accident, while a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were injured. Police have arrested the accused driver, but the area is mourning. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced.

The scene that unfolded last night on the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway terrified everyone. An out-of-control, speeding pickup truck struck near the ARTO office in Bhatipura, within the city's Kotwali area. The CCTV footage of the accident is chilling. The video clearly shows how the women were walking peacefully along the roadside, before the speeding vehicle from behind gave them a moment to recover.

Runs the family by working as a labourer

According to reports, all these women worked hard to support their families. They were returning home on foot late at night after cooking at a wedding ceremony at the city's Hotel Mira Palace. Little did they know that their lives would end before they even reached home. 40-year-old Shyamrani died on the spot, while Geeta and former councilor Bhagwati succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Tulsa Higher Center Referral

Following the accident, blood and screams littered the road. Upon receiving the information, the police rushed everyone to the district hospital via ambulance. 65-year-old Tulsi, whose condition is critical, has been referred to Jhansi Higher Secondary Center, while her daughter-in-law, Rajkumari, is being treated in Mahoba. The pickup driver fled the scene after the incident, but was arrested by police in Maudaha, Hamirpur.

The MLA assured the family of help.

Upon learning of the incident, Sadar MLA Rakesh Goswami rushed to the district hospital. He consoled the grieving family and assured them of all possible government assistance. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination, and legal proceedings are underway.
