
News Topical, Digital Desk : A unique case has come to light related to a woman from Cumbria, UK. 13 internal organs of the woman were removed. The woman had a disease called cancer, 39-year-old Rebecca Hind was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), a condition that affects approximately one in a million people.
Hind first started experiencing symptoms after an office Christmas party in December 2018, The Telegraph reports.
Woman shocked to hear about the disease
Initially she thought it was food poisoning, but when her symptoms persisted for more than 8 weeks, she became worried. By the time she came to know about this disease, it was too late and most of her body parts were affected by this disease. The woman said during an interview, I was very disappointed to hear about the disease, but I just had to move on.
What are the symptoms of this disease
According to a report in People, PMP is a rare mucinous cancer that spreads through the cavity producing a thick substance called mucin, which is found in mucus. It often causes abdominal bloating, pain, nausea, and changes in appetite.
In April 2019, at the age of 34, Hind underwent her first major operation, during which her appendix, navel, glands and more than 1.6 gallons of mucin were removed. But the treatment didn't end there. In November 2019, she underwent another major operation that included the removal of her gallbladder, spleen, large intestine, uterus.
The woman did not accept defeat
Despite such life ordeals, Hind remained determined. She said in an interview, I turned 40 this year and I want to say yes to everything. Hind further said, the message I want to give is that when you have a stoma or a terminal illness, things become incredibly difficult. My life is like a rollercoaster. But your positive attitude will not let you lose.
