News Topical, Digital Desk : The Baloch National Movement's human rights department, PANK, has released its monthly report for May 2025, exposing the misdeeds of Pakistani security forces and state-backed armed groups.

Significant increase in cases of enforced disappearances and murders

The report documents a worrying rise in cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings as part of years-long repression of the Baloch.

In a statement shared on Twitter, Pank said at least 128 individuals were forcibly disappeared and 27 killed in Balochistan. Most of the victims were civilians, including children, journalists and students.

Gwadar has the highest number of enforced disappearances at 32

The highest number of enforced disappearances, 32, were reported in Gwadar, followed by 27 in Kech, 10 in Karachi and nine in Awaran. One of the most worrying cases was that of 15-year-old Ali Baloch, who was executed by a murder squad in Kech.

He was first abducted and later killed by the killer squad. Another victim, Sameer Ahmad, was abducted from Panjgur on May 1. He was found dead eight days later. In a separate incident, the bullet-riddled body of Waheed Baloch was found a day later.

Baloch journalist shot dead while sleeping at home

Baloch journalist Abdul Latif Baloch was reportedly shot dead while sleeping at home. Pank highlighted the case of Fahad Lehri, whose mutilated body was recovered in Quetta on May 13.

The report also mentioned the killing of Bakhtiar Ahmad in Kalat, who had publicly criticised the military operations. The report also names other victims, including Sufi Tarek, Yunis Baloch, Muhammad Ramzan and many others, who were killed after being abducted from their homes.

Fake encounters are being staged

The report also mentioned a fake encounter in Barkhan, in which three men, Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Farid Buzdar, and Sultan Marri, were killed by the Counter Terrorism Department.

Another woman was beaten and injured

Two civilians, including a woman, were killed in Awaran while another woman was injured during a military raid on May 26-27. Pank appealed to the international community to intervene and hold Pakistan accountable for its systemic, state-sponsored campaign of terror against the Baloch people.
