In such a situation, due to increasing heat, the risk of heat stroke (Heat Stroke Symptoms) also increases. Heat stroke is a very serious condition in which the body's temperature control system fails. Therefore, the body temperature increases rapidly, which becomes fatal if not treated.

 

Heat Stroke Symptoms

Symptoms of heat exhaustion often appear before heat stroke, such as:

 

  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Headaches and dizziness
  • muscle cramps or weakness
  • Nausea or vomiting

 

If these symptoms are ignored, it can turn into heat stroke, the symptoms of which can be something like this-

 

  • Body temperature of 40°C or higher
  • very fast heart beat
  • confusion, fainting, or trouble speaking
  • Stopping sweating, skin becoming hot and dry
  • having a seizure or going into a coma

Immediate treatment of heat stroke

Heat stroke is a medical emergency in which immediate action is necessary. If someone shows symptoms of heat stroke, take these steps immediately-

 

  • Take it to a cool place- keep it in the shade or in an air conditioned room.
  • Cool the body – wipe the body with a wet cloth, ice pack or cold water.
  • Hydrate: If the patient is conscious, give ORS or cool water.
  • Contact a doctor immediately- Heat stroke is a very serious case. Therefore, it is important to contact a doctor immediately.

What to do to avoid heat stroke?

  • Keep drinking water- Drink at least 3-4 liters of water throughout the day. Apart from this, drink coconut water, buttermilk or electrolyte drinks so that the body remains fully hydrated .
  • Avoid going out in the sun- do not go out between 11 am and 4 pm. If it is necessary to go out, wear an umbrella, hat and sunglasses.
  • Choose the right clothes- Wear light-coloured, loose and cotton clothes. Avoid synthetic clothes as they do not absorb sweat.
  • Take special care of these- children, elderly, pregnant women and heart patients need to be more careful. If you are going out somewhere, do not leave children or pets alone in the car.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine- Tea, coffee and alcohol increase dehydration, so do not drink alcohol at all. Drink only one cup of caffeinated drinks in a day and try to drink buttermilk or juice instead.
