Why does a car catch fire while moving?
There can be many reasons for a car catching fire while driving, which may be related to technical fault, human negligence or external factors. This includes electrical short circuit, fuel leakage, engine overheating and battery failure.
Sometimes faulty car wiring, loose connections or damaged wires can cause a short circuit, which can cause a fire. This happens especially when the electrical system is old or faulty. At the same time, petrol or diesel can escape if there is a leak in the fuel line, tank or injection system. If it comes in contact with a hot surface (such as the engine or exhaust), the risk of fire increases.
Apart from this, due to overheating of the engine, oil or other flammable substances may fall on hot parts, which can start a fire. This is usually due to a malfunction of the cooling system (such as radiator or coolant leak). Leakage, overcharging or wrong connection in the car battery can cause hydrogen gas to form, which can easily catch fire. Apart from this, the exhaust pipe or catalytic converter can become very hot. If dry grass, leaves or any flammable material comes under the car, a fire can start.
