NSE's IPO preparations
NSE filed its IPO prospectus in December 2016. In March this year, NSE sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from SEBI to proceed with the process of listing of shares. Earlier also NSE had written to SEBI for NOC twice in November 2019, 2020, and in August 2024. In February, SEBI had responded to NSE's NOC request, giving some comments on technology, key management personnel (KMP), ownership of clearing corporation, and lawsuits related to colocation matter. In March, NSE again appealed for NOC, responding to all these comments.

NSE's shareholder number crossed 1 lakh in May, making it one of the largest unlisted companies in the country. Even many listed companies do not have such a large investor base. NSE shares are among the most traded shares in the unlisted market.

Statement of NSE MD and CEO NSE's MD and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan said, "We have applied to SEBI for the listing of NSE. We will move forward as soon as we get approval from SEBI." He also said that he cannot tell the time when the listing will happen. Chauhan said that SEBI is keeping an eye on the expiry date issue and both are working together on all issues. He said, "We will move forward on NSE's IPO soon." Chauhan said, "India is now the fourth largest economy in the world. Positive investment has been seen from FPI. There is a positive environment for investment in India."
