News Topical, Digital Desk : Tensions between the United States and Venezuela continue to escalate. Meanwhile, the US military has flown a supersonic heavy bomber over the Caribbean Sea and the Venezuelan coast. The US President has dismissed this claim as false.

This was the second such show of force by US military aircraft in a week. It's worth noting that this bomber flight comes at a time when Washington is waging a military campaign against alleged drug traffickers in the region.

The B-1B took off on Thursday.

Data from the tracking website Flightradar24 reportedly showed a B-1B flying toward the Venezuelan coast on Thursday afternoon. It then made a U-turn and went back, and was not seen again.

However, during an event at the White House, when Trump was asked whether the US had sent B-1Bs to Venezuela, he said that this was wrong and also said that America is not happy with Venezuela for many reasons.

What did the US military say?

This latest flight by the bomber comes nearly a week after US B-52 bombers circled the Venezuelan coast for several hours.

The US military has described the mission as a demonstration of its commitment to pre-empting enemy threats to the US, improving crew training, and ensuring the readiness of the global force needed to respond to any contingency or challenge.
