The second solar eclipse of the year will occur on August 12th. This day also coincides with Hariyali Amavasya. The eclipse will begin at 9:04 PM and end at 4:25 AM on August 13th. This eclipse will be visible in India, so the Sutak period will not be valid.

What to do during a solar eclipse

• Do not start any new work during the Sutak period, such as marriage, tonsure, and house warming.
• During an eclipse, worship or touching idols of gods and goddesses is prohibited. In such a situation , chant the Gayatri Mantra, Mahamrityunjaya Mantra , and Surya Mantra silently .
• After the eclipse is over, take a bath with Ganga water in it. After this, clean your home and temple.
• Light a lamp of pure ghee and perform puja.
• Donate things like food, money etc. to the temple or to poor people.
• Before the Sutak period, add basil leaves to the food items and keep them aside.

What not to do during a solar eclipse

• Do not perform puja during solar eclipse.
• Do not touch the idols of God.
• Do not consume food.
• Do not use sharp objects like knife, needle etc. even by mistake.
• Do not do auspicious work like engagement and marriage.
• Apart from this, do not break basil leaves.
• Do not argue with anyone.
• Don't think wrong about anyone.
