News Topical, Digital Desk : In today's busy life, staying up late has become a common habit. Sometimes it is work pressure, sometimes it is the addiction of watching movies or web series, but do you know how harmful this habit can be for your health?

When we do not get a good and complete sleep at night, the balance of our body gets disturbed. Lack of sleep increases the level of stress hormone called cortisol in the body, which hinders the functioning of insulin. This directly affects our blood sugar level and gradually pushes us towards diabetes.

So, if you want to stay healthy and avoid this serious disease, make good sleep your priority. Let's find out which 4 things health expert Sonia Narang advises to stay away from.

Avoid tea and coffee 4 hours before bedtime

Tea and coffee contain caffeine, which stimulates our brain. If you drink tea or coffee just before bedtime, it can disturb your sleep. Avoid taking caffeine-based drinks at least 4 hours before bedtime. Instead, you can drink herbal tea or warm milk.

Skip meals 3 hours before bedtime

Eating heavy food at night and sleeping immediately puts pressure on the digestive system. This  can cause gas, acidity and restlessness  , which will disturb your sleep. Eat light and easily digestible food 3 hours before sleeping. This will digest your food well and you will be able to sleep peacefully.

Skip water 2 hours before bedtime

This rule may seem a little strange, but it is very effective. Drinking too much water just before sleeping at night may make you go to the bathroom frequently, which will interrupt your sleep. Reduce your water intake 2 hours before bedtime, so that you can sleep without interruption.

Put down your phone 1 hour before going to bed

This is the most difficult but most important rule. The blue light emitted from the screen of mobile, laptop or TV   keeps our brain awake and prevents the production of melatonin hormone, which is very important for sleep. Therefore, keep all digital devices away at least an hour before sleeping.
