News Topical, Digital Desk : The results of low-cost airline SpiceJet have been excellent. The airline has recorded record profits in the quarter ended in March. On the basis of annual performance, the company has made profits for the first time in 7 years. In the last year and the last quarter, the airline has benefited from increasing demand, cost control and better business performance. The airline's full-year income has seen a decline, but improving operational efficiency and cost control have helped the airline increase profits. In Friday's session, the stock closed at 43.81 with a decline of about 2 percent.

How were the quarterly results

SpiceJet has reported a record net profit of Rs 319 crore in the fourth quarter of 2024-25, which is 12 times more than the previous quarter's Rs 26 crore. This is the second consecutive quarter when the airline has reported a profit. With this, the airline has recorded a profit for the first time in the full year since 2017-18. SpiceJet has earned a net profit of Rs 48 crore in 2024-25, while the company had a loss of Rs 404 crore in the previous financial year. According to the information given by the airline, the revenue in the fourth quarter was Rs 1,942 crore. While the operating revenue grew 17.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 1,446 crore. EBITDA has doubled to Rs 527 crore as compared to the previous quarter. During the quarter, the passenger load factor stood at 88.1 per cent and the revenue per seat per kilometer stood at Rs 5.66. The company's net worth, which turned positive in the third quarter, has now increased to Rs 683 crore. The company's financial position has been further strengthened with the help of equity funding of Rs 500 crore from the promoter, of which Rs 294 crore was made in Q4. SpiceJet launched 24 new domestic flights this year and added destinations like Tuticorin, Porbandar and Dehradun. Along with this, special Haj flights were started.
