News Topical, Digital Desk : AXIOM-4 Mission has been successfully launched. Falcon Rocket has successfully taken off towards space. Shubhanshu Shukla is part of the mission crew from India.  Many countries have participated in this mission. 

Indian Air Force Group Captain and Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will be the second Indian to go to space. Earlier in 1984, astronaut Rakesh Sharma had traveled to space. Rakesh Sharma had said from space, ‘Our India is better than the whole world’

  • The hatch of SpaceX's rocket 'Dragon' is closed. All communications and suit checks are complete. The Axiom-4 crew is ready for launch.

Nidhi Mishra, sister of IAF Group Captain and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, said, “This is a proud moment not only for me but for everyone in India. I cannot put it into words; all I would like to say is, 'Shubhnshu, may your mission be successful and you return safely to us.'”

Who are the passengers of this mission?

Four astronauts are participating in this mission. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will be the pilot of this mission. The mission will be commanded by former NASA astronaut and Axiom Space's human space flight director Peggy Whitson. Apart from this, European Space Agency's project astronaut Slavoj Ujnanski-Wisniewski (Poland) and Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu will join as mission specialists. These four astronauts together will conduct several scientific experiments on the International Space Station.

What is Axiom Mission 4?

The Axiom-4 mission is a private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission aims to direct around 60 scientific studies and activities on behalf of 31 countries. These countries are India, the United States, Poland, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, and Europe. According to Axiom, this mission will be the second human spaceflight mission in history for these countries, but this will be the first time these three countries will complete a mission together on the ISS.
