While his father was being attacked, his mentally challenged son, Sunil Pathak, rushed to his father's rescue, only to be seriously injured by the robbers. Nemraj's daughter-in-law, Laxmi Pathak, who was sleeping in another room, was unaware of the incident. After the robbers left, the daughter-in-law returned to find her father-in-law's body and her husband injured. Hearing the noise, villagers arrived and informed the police.
