News Topical, Digital Desk : Hitachi Energy informed after the stock market closed on Thursday that the company has received an order from Power Grid for the supply of 765 KV transformers. The company has informed that Hitachi Energy India Limited has received an order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for the supply of 30 single-phase transformers of 765 kilovolt (kV), 500 megavolt-ampere (MVA). This step has been taken as part of the increasing investment in power transmission infrastructure in India.
The deal is part of India's move away from a project-based approach in energy planning and towards a long-term programmatic strategy aimed at meeting demand generated by the transition to renewable energy sources, industrial electrification and electric transport. Demand for power transformers increased According to the company, the demand for power transformers in India has grown at an average rate of 15 per cent per annum in the last two years. The new transformers will be manufactured at Hitachi Energy's transformer plant in Maneja, Vadodara, Gujarat, in line with the government's "Make in India" initiative. Ultra-high-voltage alternating current (UHVAC) transformers, such as 765 kV units, play a key role in enabling the transmission of high-capacity electricity over long distances, while also minimising power losses and land use. The company's stock closed at Rs 19441 on Friday, down 0.99 per cent.
