News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has maintained a tough stance on Iran. He has increased military pressure and stressed the need for dialogue with Tehran, saying another armada is heading towards Iran.
Trump reiterated his tough stance on Iran at a time when tensions between the US and Iran are increasing over crackdown on protesters and regional security.
Trump sends Iran a message of dialogue
"Another beautiful armada is heading towards Iran," Trump said during a campaign event in Quives, Iowa, referring to a significant increase in US military deployments in West Asia.
"I hope they'll make a deal. They should make a deal first. Then they'll have a country." His statement appears to project American power and also leaves the door open for diplomacy.
Trump made a similar statement last week, saying, "We have an armada heading that way, and we may not have to use it." An armada is when multiple warships are deployed together for a mission or war.
Iran ready for talks
It should be noted that Trump has repeatedly warned Iran against firing on protesters. He even threatened that the US would come to their aid if they fired on protesters.
Iran has repeatedly issued threats in response to Trump's rhetoric, leading to increasing tensions between the two countries.
IANS, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that his country welcomes any process to achieve peace and prevent war under international law while fully protecting the rights of its citizens.
He said this during a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday.
Trump warns Iraq
According to the Associated Press, President Trump warned Iraq on Tuesday that the US would not support the country if former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki returned to power.
Trump's threat came just days after a major political bloc of Iraq's Shia parties announced their support for Nouri's nomination, whom the Trump administration considers close to Iran.
