Method and importance of worship

On this day, the "Dwijpriya" form of Lord Ganesha is worshipped. It is believed that devotees who observe a fast with a sincere heart on this day will be relieved of all troubles and obstacles in their lives.

According to religious beliefs, offering Durva grass, Modak (a sacred thread), and red flowers to Lord Ganesha is highly fruitful. Chanting the mantra "Om Gan Ganpataye Namah" during the puja brings peace of mind and success in one's work. This fast concludes with offerings to the moon at night.

Moon Rise Time

The Sankashti Chaturthi fast is not considered complete until the moon is sighted. The moonrise time on February 5, 2026, will be 9:35 pm (estimated) . This time may vary by a few minutes depending on the city.

According to scriptures, when offering water to the Moon, one must add vermillion, whole grains of rice, and white flowers. This strengthens the Moon's position in the horoscope and relieves mental stress.
