News Topical, Digital Desk : The conflict between Russia and Ukraine that has been going on for the last several years is not stopping. Every day something or the other happens which deepens the crisis of war. According to Reuters, Britain on Wednesday promised to give 100,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of the current financial year, April 2026, and this is a very large number. This shows that unmanned aerial vehicles have changed the way war is fought.

British government held a meeting to help Ukraine

The British government on Monday backed an independently produced strategic defence review that calls for a more lethal, technology-driven military to counter emerging threats including a potential Russian invasion.

Britain, one of Ukraine's staunchest Western supporters, has been a steadfast supporter of Kiev during its more than three-year battle against Russian aggression. At the same time, drones have completely transformed the battlefield.

Ukraine will get help

The 350 million pound ($473 million) drone package is part of a wider 4.5 billion pound military aid initiative for Ukraine, the government said. Defence Secretary John Healey will make the announcement at a meeting of the 50-nation Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels, co-hosted with Germany.

In a statement ahead of the meeting, Healey said the UK was increasing its support for Ukraine by delivering hundreds of thousands more drones this year and completing a major milestone in the delivery of vital artillery ammunition.

Training Ukrainian soldiers will cost £247 million

In addition to the drone deliveries, Britain said it had completed the shipment of 140,000 artillery shells to Ukraine since January and would spend a further £247 million on training Ukrainian troops this year.
