News Topical, Digital Desk : Allegations of harassment during hearings for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list led to uproar at various locations in Bengal on Tuesday. Some people vandalized a hearing center set up at the Block Development Officer's office in the Basanti area of ​​South 24 Parganas district.

The Sandeshkhali-1 Block Development Officer's office in North 24 Parganas district was also vandalized on the same charges. In the Dholahat area of ​​South 24 Parganas district, protests were held by burning tires. Roads were also blocked, halting vehicular traffic for hours.

Protesters said they were being called for a hearing and kept in line for hours. Police arrived on the scene and brought the situation under control. They assured the protesters that their complaints would be addressed with the appropriate authorities.

Some residents of the minority community in Debhog Gram Panchayat, Haldia, East Medinipur district, alleged that they had been sent a notice for an SIR hearing as part of a conspiracy. It should be noted that the Supreme Court issued several directives to the Election Commission on Monday.

The apex court has said that the verification of people categorised as having logical anomalies under the SIR process should be done in a transparent manner so that they do not face any kind of trouble or stress.

Trinamool Congress workers protested in the Polba area of ​​Hooghly district, carrying Form 7. They alleged that BJP members were undemocratically submitting Form 7 to remove the names of legitimate voters from the voter list.
