News Topical, Digital Desk : Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji made her Bollywood debut with the 1996 film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. Produced by Salim Akhtar, the film received a positive response from audiences. However, Rani's mother, Krishna Mukherjee, did not want her to act in the film. The film was directed by Ashok Gaikwad.

Mother said that she should be removed from the film.

She went to the producer and told him not to cast her in his movie. Rani revealed this in an interview with ANI. Rani explained that her mother, Krishna, had requested the film's producer, Salim Akhtar, not to cast her, fearing it would ruin the film and cause them losses.

Mother did not like the screen test at all

Rani revealed that her mother was initially very open to her pursuing acting. The actress said, “My mother was very open to it. For her, it was like, 'Do it and see what happens.' However, after my first screen test, she found me so distasteful that she told the producer, 'I think you'll ruin your film by casting my daughter. You'll suffer losses. It's better not to cast her.' The producer, Salim Uncle (producer of Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat), was very keen to sign me, but my mother was smart enough to understand that I wasn't doing well. So she said, 'I don't think you should cast her.'”

Father did not like the profession

However, Rani's father, Ram Mukherjee, had a different reaction to this. He added, "He wasn't keen at all because at that time, it wasn't common for children from film families, especially girls, to pursue acting. Back then, it was mostly men who pursued the profession. Unlike today, when all children are so inspired to follow in their parents' footsteps. The situation was a little different back then. I don't think the film industry, overall, seemed like a very viable career option back then. For example, even when I was growing up, I don't think it was a matter of pride to say in school that I came from a film family."
