News Topical, Digital Desk : A railway employee has lost his job after throwing garbage from a moving train. A passenger filmed the incident, sparking widespread criticism and renewing concerns about poor sanitation and waste disposal practices within the Indian Railways.

Social media users condemned the act, calling it a major problem. In a video shared on Instagram, a man said he was travelling from Kanpur to Jaipur on the Sdah Aii Sf Exp (12987) on November 4 when he saw a railway employee take a bag of garbage from a dustbin inside the train and throw it onto the tracks from the moving train.

'So should I take it home?'

The passenger further explained in the caption of the video that he tried to tell the employee that he shouldn't have done that and explained the problem, but he was met with the reply, "So what, should I have taken it home?" The passenger said that all his efforts were in vain as the man did the same thing again after some time.

What did the Railways say?

As soon as the video gained public attention, the Railways responded that the employee had been removed. The North Western Railway said, "Dear Passenger, your complaint regarding garbage being thrown on the tracks from running train number 12987 has been viewed seriously and the contract employee, Sanjay Singh, has been immediately removed. A strict penalty has also been imposed on the contract firm."

Additionally, to prevent such incidents from recurring, OBHS staff have been immediately counseled to dispose of garbage only at designated stations. People also reacted to the video, criticizing the lack of employee and civic responsibility. One user taunted, "If we throw it outside, it's dirt, but if they throw it outside, it's cleanliness?" Another said, "Action should be taken against them."
