News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani played a key role in getting Iran to agree to a ceasefire proposed by the US, Reuters reported, citing an official familiar with the talks.

According to the report, a phone conversation took place between Qatar's PM and Iranian officials, in which Iran gave its approval for a ceasefire. This conversation took place at a time when US President Donald Trump contacted the Emir of Qatar and appealed to him to persuade Iran.

Iran and Israel will start ceasefire in six hours

Just hours after Iran's approval, Trump announced on his social media platform Trump that Iran and Israel had agreed to a complete ceasefire, ending the 12-day conflict.

"This will be a complete and total ceasefire that will go into effect in the next 6 hours when both nations end their final military operations. Iran will implement the ceasefire first in 12 hours and then Israel will implement the ceasefire in another 12 hours and then the war will be officially over," Trump wrote.

He described this historic agreement as the end of the 12 Day War and said that if this war had continued, it could have destroyed the entire Middle East.
