News Topical, Digital Desk : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed doubts over Russia's intentions regarding the ceasefire. He said this after talks with US President Donald Trump and other European leaders.

The Ukrainian President has said that he wants a complete ceasefire. This proposal was initially proposed by the US President. Along with this, Zelensky said that Russia should take concrete action for a ceasefire and also take important steps.

'Russians want something else along with the ceasefire...'

President Zelenskyy said, “I don't know the principles of the Russians. As I understood from our conversation with US President Trump, I think the Russian side wants to send us a memorandum on how they see the principles and they want not just a ceasefire; they want something more.”

He said, "Basically I believe everybody wants a ceasefire. There has been too much damage; we really want to end this war. I am not sure Russia is ready and we don't trust them. And that is what we want from them in the first phase, a ceasefire, so that we can be sure that they are really ready to stop the war."

What did the Ukrainian President say about international partners?

"I always share this with all our partners, the United States, the Europeans... I was very pleased when President Trump proposed a complete ceasefire without any conditions or preconditions. We were ready for that. So these are our principles: a ceasefire and then other steps, like prisoner exchanges," the Ukrainian president said, referring to ongoing dialogue with international partners.
