News Topical, Digital Desk : Talks are on to finalise the free trade agreement between India and the European Union (EU) as soon as possible. On Thursday, EU President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa had a long phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Amid the aggressive tariff policy and disruptive trade policies of US President Donald Trump, the leaders of India, the European Union and the European Council spoke on the phone and resolved to build a law-abiding world.

What all happened?

In this conversation, apart from completing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement soon, implementation of India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor and ending the Ukraine war soon were discussed. Apart from this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sbiha.

India is making every effort to finalise the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Europe. European Council President Costa and European Commission chief Leyen spoke to PM Modi through a joint phone call, a picture of which they also shared.

Big message for Trump

During this phone call, world politics, conflicts and economic interests were discussed. This picture of the interaction of Europe's top organizations with India's PM Narendra Modi is a big message for America. The phone conversation between the three leaders took place at a time when the Trump administration has imposed a 50% tariff on India.

The next summit will be held in India

During this, the three leaders also discussed about holding the next India-EU summit in India as soon as possible as per mutual convenience and PM Modi also invited Costa and Leyen for this. PM Modi posted on social media and described this conversation as very good.
