News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh on Saturday, watching an aerial display by fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters.
The ELF is the first of its kind in Northeast India and was developed in collaboration with the Indian Air Force to assist military and civil aircraft in emergency landing and take-off.
PM Modi's program
During his day-long visit to Assam on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu over the Brahmaputra River. The bridge connects Guwahati and North Guwahati. Built at a cost of approximately ₹3,030 crore, this six-lane extradosed prestressed concrete (PSC) bridge is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati during his visit. This move is expected to boost higher and management education in the Northeast.
Electric buses will be flagged off
The Prime Minister will also flag off 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus service scheme in four cities, Guwahati (100), Nagpur (50), Bhavnagar (50) and Chandigarh (25).
During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Data Center for the North Eastern Region in Amingaon, Kamrup district. The center is expected to strengthen the region's digital infrastructure and help deliver services to the public under the Digital India initiative.
