News Topical, Digital Desk : In the last 2 decades, Patanjali Ayurveda has emerged as not just a health and wellness brand, but also as a powerful medium of change in rural India. Patanjali, formed in 2006 under the leadership of Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, has worked to change the direction of rural India in many areas like health, education, employment, organic farming and women empowerment. Although it is an Ayurvedic brand, it has done many important works for the development of India, which has given a new direction to not only urban but also rural development. Let us know how Patanjali is empowering rural India with its social initiatives, changing millions of lives.
Rural Employment and Skill Development
According to a study published in the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Development, Patanjali has provided direct employment to more than 2 lakh people till 2017, most of whom are from rural areas. Local people are given training and employment in Patanjali's plants in Haridwar, Nagpur and Assam, which not only develops their skills but also they do not have to go to cities in search of jobs. They can earn a good income by staying near their home and family.
Contribution of farming for women empowerment
Patanjali is very conscious about women empowerment. Here emphasis is laid on giving equal opportunities of education and employment to women. Patanjali has formed self-help groups of rural women in many states like Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh in which they are trained to grow medicinal crops like Tulsi, Giloy and Aloe Vera. Along with organic farming, seeds are also provided to women and they are also given training in the latest techniques of farming. To empower women economically and ensure their equal participation in the society, Patanjali also guarantees the purchase of crops grown by them.
Promoting organic and traditional farming
Patanjali Ayurveda aims to encourage more and more farmers in the country to adopt organic farming, which will not only be good for their crops but will also be beneficial for everyone's health. Patanjali inspires farmers to do chemical-free farming through Bio-Research Institute. So far, organic farming is being done on thousands of hectares of land with the help of Patanjali, which not only protects our environment but is also increasing the income of farmers.
Easy access to health services
Patanjali Ayurveda's slogan is 'Prakriti Ka Ashirwad', which reflects the brand's thinking and working style. To make rural India strong and healthy, Patanjali has opened health centers and hospitals across the country, where Ayurvedic treatment and medicines are made available to the villagers at very low cost or free of cost. According to the data published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, due to this initiative of Patanjali, people in rural areas of the country are able to get treatment by identifying the disease in time. This has not only made treatment cheaper for them, but has also provided relief from repeated visits to expensive hospitals in the city.
Patanjali's social initiatives are not limited to CSR, but it is a mission to bring change in the country. It has opened new avenues of education, health, employment and self-reliance for women in the villages, which is a commendable initiative to strengthen India from within.
