News Topical, Digital Desk : A parliamentary committee is now examining the hardship faced by passengers due to the cancellation of a large number of IndiGo flights. IndiGo COO Isidro Porqueras and Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha appeared before the committee on Wednesday and presented their views on the difficult situation that has persisted for more than a week.

In this case, the Parliamentary Committee has considered the answers of the airline company and the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as evasive and vague-confused.

The committee did not reach any conclusion

JDU leader Sanjay Jha, head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture, has yet to reach a conclusion on the matter. He has decided to wait until the Civil Aviation Ministry's investigation report is released. Thousands of passengers were stranded at airports across the country for days, suffering significant losses and hardships.

According to sources, several MPs on the committee asked whether the Ministry of Civil Aviation was unprepared to handle such a situation. Was this situation caused by the implementation of the flight duty time limitation system, or did IndiGo deliberately allow the chaos to develop to gain exemption from this system?

IndiGo blamed technical issues

The Standing Committee meeting found that responses from IndiGo and the DGCA attempted to blame technical reasons for the flight cancellations and resulting chaos. These responses lacked any sense of responsibility. Officials from Air India, Air India Express, Akasha, and SpiceJet were also present at the parliamentary committee meeting, which lasted nearly four hours on Wednesday.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry has appointed a four-member committee to investigate this matter. It is expected that this committee will submit its report to the central government by December 28th.
