News Topical, Digital Desk : The Ekadashi that falls during the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Vaishakha is called Varuthini Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is believed to bring salvation, good fortune, and freedom from sins. Fasting on this day and worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi according to the prescribed rituals is considered auspicious. Therefore, to maintain happiness and prosperity in the home, be sure to observe these special rules on Ekadashi.

Don't make these mistakes

  • According to religious beliefs, on Ekadashi , Mother Tulsi observes a waterless fast for Lord Vishnu. Therefore, one should not offer water to Tulsi even by mistake on this day, as this could break her fast.
  • One should avoid plucking Tulsi leaves on Ekadashi. Therefore, you can pluck the leaves for worship a day earlier, i.e., on Dwadashi.
  • Washing hair is also prohibited on Ekadashi. Some people even avoid combing their hair on this day, as hair loss on Ekadashi is considered inauspicious.
  • Rice should not be consumed even by mistake on Ekadashi day.
  • Do not wear black clothes during Ekadashi puja, as it promotes negativity.

Definitely do this work

According to religious beliefs, Lord Vishnu does not accept offerings without Tulsi. Therefore, be sure to include Tulsi leaves in your offerings on Ekadashi. After sunset on Ekadashi, light a lamp filled with pure cow ghee near the Tulsi plant and chant the mantra "Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay." Doing so will bring special blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu

1. Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya

2. Vishnu Bhagavate Vasudevaya Mantra
Om Namo: Bhagavate Vasudevaya.

3. Om Shri Vishnuve Cha Vidmahe Vasudevaya Dhimahi. Tanno Vishnu: Prachodayat.

4. Shantakaram Bhujagashayanam Padmanabham Suresham
Vishwadharam Gaganasdrisham Meghavarnam Shubhangam.
Lakshmikantam Kamalanayanam Yogibhirdhyanagamyam
Vande Vishnum Bhavabhayaharam Sarvlokaikanatham.

Donate these things

It is believed in the scriptures that donating on Varuthini Ekadashi yields the same rewards as 10,000 years of penance. Therefore,  on this day, you can donate food, water, clothing, sesame seeds, and a cow, according to your capacity. This bestows the blessings of Lord Vishnu, liberating one from sins and increasing good fortune. Furthermore,  feeding the poor and donating lamps on this day is considered highly virtuous.
