
News Topical, Digital Desk : Delhi Crime News: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Ajay Lamba alias Bansi, a dangerous and wanted criminal who was absconding for 25 years. This criminal was a proclaimed offender in four serious cases of murdering taxi drivers and looting their vehicles in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand since 2001.
He used to sell the stolen vehicles in Nepal
According to Delhi Police, Ajay Lamba was absconding in four different cases of murder and robbery including New Ashok Nagar in the year 2001. He used to hire taxis along with his associates. Then he would take the taxi to some deserted hilly area, kill the taxi driver, loot the car and escape after throwing the dead body. The cars looted by this gang were sold in Nepal.
According to Delhi Police, he entered the world of crime during his teenage years. He was declared a notorious criminal by the name Bansi in Vikaspuri police station. To hide his identity, he changed his name to Ajay Lamba in 1996 and shifted to Bareilly. There he started organized crime along with Dhirendra and Dilip Negi.
The accused hid his identity in many states and Nepal as well
Delhi Police said that Ajay remained hidden in Nepal from 2008 to 2018. Then he settled with his family in Dehradun. From the year 2020, he started the business of smuggling ganja and became a part of the supply chain from Odisha to Delhi. He was arrested in 2021 in Sagarpur, Delhi under the NDPS Act and in 2024 in a jewelry shop robbery case in Behrampur, Odisha, but was out on bail in both the cases.
Delhi Police arrested him as per strategy
Delhi Police arrested Ajay from Delhi after mobile surveillance and long technical and manual monitoring. Ajay Lamba did not tell anyone about his past crimes even after his arrest. Police is now questioning him intensively and trying to find out what other criminal activities he was involved in during these years.
