News Topical, Digital Desk : On one hand, the rain on Friday (29 August) brought seasonal relief to Delhi, which was suffering from heat and humidity, but on the other hand, it had to face many problems due to long traffic jams and waterlogging at many places. A little rain turned the roads and streets of the capital into ponds. On this situation, the Aam Aadmi Party took the BJP's 4-engine government to task and said that the six-month government has drowned Delhi.

Party leaders said that BJP has now stopped making false claims and is just waiting for the weather to change. Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi and other AAP leaders shared videos of waterlogging in many areas including Patparganj, Sangam Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, AIIMS, Geeta Colony, Sanjay Lake, South Delhi and MB Road on social media and raised questions on the working style of the government.

BJP has made Delhi a city of lakes- Saurabh Bhardwaj

Aam Aadmi Party took a dig at BJP in a press release and wrote that if the condition of Delhi is to be maintained like this, then BJP should sell its four engines to a junk dealer and buy four boats. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that BJP government has made Delhi a city of lakes. Manish Sisodia had built a school and some swimming pools in Patparganj, but BJP government has converted the entire highway into a swimming pool and is now telling Delhiites to swim as much as they can.

He quipped that CM Rekha Gupta is providing new means of employment because BJP has turned the entire Patparganj into a swimming pool. AAP leaders said that BJP is not making false claims now and is thinking that the rains should end and the calamity will be averted.

So far about 40 people have lost their lives - AAP

AAP leaders also mentioned the deaths caused by rain in the capital and held the BJP responsible. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that so far in this monsoon, about 35 to 40 people have lost their lives due to rain and related accidents. Two children died due to wall collapse in Vasant Kunj, seven people died due to roof collapse in Nizamuddin, seven people died due to wall collapse near Mithapur in Badarpur and one person died due to tree falling in Kalkaji. A two and a half year old child died due to sewer being left open on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

Bhardwaj said that while in opposition, BJP used to make a hue and cry over every incident, even LG used to visit the site of incident, but now after coming to power, LG is nowhere to be seen and neither do BJP leaders have time to look after the victim families. He also shared the video of NH-24 and asked that if desilting has been done and contractors have received proper payment, then why is the government afraid of third party audit.

Now we should carry a life jacket- Atishi

On the other hand, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi also criticized the BJP government by sharing pictures of waterlogging in Patparganj and other places. Sharing the video of Sangam Vihar, AAP leaders said that people going there should now carry life jackets because you never know when you might need it.

AAP leaders called South Delhi a "mini Venice" and said that now BJP ministers will not come to take credit for it. They called the waterlogging on MB Road as "MB River" and said that it is as if BJP is giving a new challenge to Delhiites every day to cross it.

The party says that the six-month-old BJP government has not done any development work but has turned the capital into a pond and a river and the question is whether the government will take concrete steps to deal with the problem of waterlogging or Delhi will continue to drown like this every time it rains.
