News Topical, Digital Desk : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided 10 locations in five states in connection with an Al Qaeda terror plot case allegedly involving illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, officials said on Thursday.

NIA teams on Wednesday searched premises linked to various suspects and their associates in Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Haryana and Gujarat, a spokesperson for the investigating agency said in a statement. Several digital devices and documents were seized and sent for forensic analysis.

The NIA said the case was registered in 2023. Four Bangladeshis – Mohammad Sojibmia, Munna Khalid Ansari, Azrul Islam and Abdul Latif – had infiltrated into India from Bangladesh using forged Indian identity documents.

These individuals were found to be linked to the banned terrorist organization Al-Qaeda. They were involved in raising and transferring funds for Al-Qaeda terrorists in Bangladesh. The NIA filed a charge sheet in this case on November 10, 2023, in a special court in Ahmedabad.
