New Delhi: The US court has sent summons to the Indian government in the murder case of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. The Indian government has strongly objected to this summons and called it completely wrong. When Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was asked about the summons sent by the US District Court of the Southern District of New York, he rejected these allegations and said that it is completely unfair and baseless.

Pannu declared terrorist by India

The Foreign Secretary said in a press conference on Thursday ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US that Pannu is a terrorist declared by India, who holds US and Canadian citizenship. His history has always been controversial. The organisation this person represents is an illegal organisation.

Pannu was involved in anti-national activities

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that it was banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. Pannu was involved in anti-national and subversive activities aimed at disrupting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.

Pannu holds American and Canadian citizenship

Pannu, who holds US and Canadian citizenship, is a designated terrorist by India. Earlier in November, the US Justice Department had filed charges against an American leader of a Sikh separatist movement and an Indian national for their alleged involvement in a failed plot to murder a civilian in New York.

Formation of a high level inquiry committee

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that now that the case has been registered, India's views on this will not change. India had set up a high-level inquiry committee in November last year to address the security concerns highlighted by the US government. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India takes such inputs seriously as they also affect national security interests and the concerned departments are already investigating the issue.
