New Delhi: The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on Thursday on the sub-classification (quota within quota) of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for providing reservation in jobs.

A seven-judge constitutional bench will deliver the verdict

According to the cause list uploaded on the Supreme Court website, a seven-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will pronounce the verdict. The Supreme Court had reserved its order on February 8 after hearing arguments of Attorney General R Venkataramani, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, senior advocate Kapil Sibal and others. The states, represented by senior advocates, have sought a review of the EV Chinnaiah vs Government of Andhra Pradesh verdict, which ruled in 2004 that all Scheduled Caste communities, which had suffered exclusion, discrimination and humiliation for centuries, were a homogeneous class.
