New Delhi: Travelling between two nearby cities is now going to be very easy. The wait for India's first indigenous semi-high speed train Vande Metro, designed on the lines of Vande Bharat, is about to end.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off this proposed train between Bhuj and Ahmedabad on September 16, a day before his birthday. This train, built with indigenous technology, is fully air-conditioned. Soon such trains will be run for other medium distance cities as well.

It has been constructed on the lines of Vande Bharat

Vande Metro has been built on the lines of Vande Bharat Express train, which is to ease the movement between two cities located at a distance of about 150 to 200 kilometers. Daily commuters, students and businessmen will be able to cover this distance comfortably in three to four hours.

This train with a total of 12 air-conditioned coaches has a maximum speed of 110 km per hour. Last week, it was tested on the Ahmedabad-Gandhidham route. During the trial run, the speed of the train reached 110 km per hour. Fast trains take about 6.5 hours to travel from Ahmedabad to Bhuj, but Vande Metro took 1.5 hours less time.

1150 passengers in 12 coaches

Vande Metro will have a seating capacity of 1,150 passengers at a time. Like metro trains, travel can also be done while standing. In this way, more passengers than the seating capacity can also travel at a time. The train has many modern facilities. There are ejector-based bio vacuum toilets in modular design. There are friendly toilets on both sides for the disabled.

There is a provision of LED lights in the bogies. There is a mobile charging socket along with the outlet. Like the metro, the movement of passengers from one coach to another has been made easy so that there is no overcrowding in different coaches. A shield system has been installed to prevent trains from colliding with each other. There is also an aerosol system to detect and extinguish fire.
