Mumbai: There are talks of lyricist and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir joining the BJP. In the last few days, he has met three BJP leaders including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Manoj Muntashir's full name is Manoj Shukla. He originally hails from Gauriganj tehsil of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh. In the last few days, Manoj Muntashir has met Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar, senior minister in the state government Sudhir Mungantiwar and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

When Manoj Muntashir was asked about joining the BJP after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday afternoon, instead of answering yes or no, he simply said that the DNA of the BJP suits us. Manoj Muntashir lives in Versova area of Mumbai.

Why is the association with BJP increasing?

This is considered to be an area with a majority of North Indians. Therefore, BJP can also fulfill its North Indian quota by making him a candidate from this area in the upcoming assembly elections. Let us tell you that the number of North Indian voters in Mumbai is decisive in many assembly constituencies. This class was once considered a committed voter of Congress. But after the rise of Narendra Modi in national politics in 2014, it completely broke away and joined BJP.

There is no such familiar North Indian face in Mumbai

But in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this vote bank is once again seen to be divided. The effect of the PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) equation that Akhilesh Yadav was successful in setting up for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh has also been seen in Mumbai.

After the Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra SP President Abu Asim Azmi has welcomed the newly elected 37 SP MPs in Mumbai and has started preparing the PDA equation here for the upcoming assembly elections. On the other hand, BJP does not have any well-known North Indian face in Mumbai, by putting him in front of whom BJP can claim to attract North Indians. The faces that are there, are either from Congress, or are so old that they are not able to attract the young generation. This is also believed to be one of the reasons for the increasing association of Manoj Muntashir, who is also known as a good speaker, with BJP.
