Imphal: Manipur police on Sunday expressed concern over the use of sophisticated weapons during protests. DIG (Range 1) Herojeet Singh said protesters were also using automatic weapons. We have evidence of firing of automatic weapons during the protests. An officer and another personnel of the Imphal East Commando were injured in the recent firing by automatic weapons in Khabeisoi.

It is essential to maintain law and order

The DIG said that we urge people to use democratic and non-violent methods for their demands. Protests aimed at targeting the police should be stopped immediately. It is necessary to maintain law and order. Strict action will be taken against those entering highly sensitive areas and destroying public property.

Internet banned in five districts

According to ANI, the Manipur government has extended the internet suspension and mobile data services in five districts till September 20. The state home department on Sunday issued an order extending the suspension of internet and mobile data services in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching districts.

Earlier, the state government had imposed a ban on internet services for five days from September 10. The ban was to end on Sunday, but in view of the current situation, the government decided to extend it.
