Manipur: Violence has escalated again in Manipur and protests continue in different parts of the state. In view of the recent law and order situation in the Manipur capital, the District Magistrates of Imphal West and Imphal East have imposed curfew in both the districts from 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 10.
Following a communication from the Home Department, internet has been shut down for five days across Manipur amid student agitation.
Curfew imposed from 5 am to 10 am
In two separate orders issued on Monday, the DMs of Imphal East and Imphal West said they have withdrawn the previous order of relaxation in curfew from 5 am to 10 pm and imposed complete curfew in the two districts with immediate effect till further notice.

The orders, however, said that the movement of persons related to essential services such as health, public health engineering department, municipal officials, electricity (MSPCL/MSPDCL), petrol pumps, functioning of courts, movement of flight passengers and media is prohibited.
Hundreds of students, who on Monday demonstrated in front of the Manipur Chief Minister's Secretariat and the Raj Bhavan in Imphal against the rising violence in the state, again gathered at the women's market - Ima Market (also known as Nupi).

The police are encouraging them to return to their homes. The students locked themselves on the first floor of the market, which was closed on Tuesday too due to the re-imposition of curfew.
