Bengaluru: The High Court has directed to send the information of the woman who has filed separate criminal cases against 10 men in Karnataka to all the police stations. The Karnataka High Court has given this order to the DGP of the state. The woman has filed cases against 10 men between 2011 and 2022. In his direction, Justice M. Nagaprasanna emphasized the need to prevent misuse of the legal process.
According to a Deccan Herald report, on August 28, 2022, PK Vivek met the woman in connection with a business transaction at Hotel Lalit Mahal Palace in Mysore. A few days later, the woman filed two cases against Vivek and his family. Vivek told the court in his petition that the woman has filed similar cases against 10 men in the last 10 years.
The woman did not appear in court
The court expressed surprise at the woman's tendency to file a series of cases. In her complaints, the woman named some men as her husband and accused some of raping her by promising marriage. However, she remained absent during the hearing. She did not even come to the court to present evidence. After this, the High Court ordered the cancellation of the criminal case registered against PK Vivek and his family. PK Vivek is a resident of Sakleshpur in Hassan district and is the owner of a coffee plantation.
What did the judge say?
Justice M Nagaprasanna said, "If this complainant wants to register a case in any police station, then the case should not be registered without proper preliminary investigation. This is to stop the crimes being registered indiscriminately against men." Justice Nagaprasanna said, "The purpose of this is clear. It was only to harass people who had nothing to do with the complainant.
